6 Pieces, 7 Days, 12 Looks

Much like a greeting or a handshake, a good first impression is crucial, especially since they stick! As naive teens ready to enter high school or to leave the nest and enter "the real world", we must communicate our personality while dressing to impress. Your personal style is an extension of who you are and it only takes one tenth of a second to judge someone based on appearance, so make it a good one! We here at Poor Fashionista's Almanack have created a lookbook as inspiration for any fashion hungry soul. Since we are also poor teenagers on a budget, we created 12 looks using only 6 articles of clothing and dressed the pieces up and down for every day of the week. This goes to show that even if you don't have the most designer-clad closet, there is no excuse for not always looking fabulous.

The pieces: Tip: Invest in timeless classics that will be in style no matter the season and compliment them with more trendy pieces.

1. Patterned Dress- Cooperative (Urban Outfitters), 2. Patterned Blouse- h.i.p. (Marshall's), 3. Little Black Dress- Pins & Needles (Urban Outfitters), 4. Chambray Button Down- BDG. (Urban Outfitters), 5. Blue Blazer- Forever 21, 6. Cream Cardigan- BDG. (Urban Outfitters)

Monday: First Day of School
The first day of school is your first chance to show classmates and teachers what you are all about and show them that you are hardworking yet trendy and approachable.  This is also the time to experiment with different and creative combinations for that unique look. A cardigan is the perfect transition for the fall and button-down gives it a preppy school-girl feel.

Tuesday: Part-time Job Interview
Interviews are a time to dress formally with the traditional skirt, blouse and blazer getup. However, we switched out the old black blazer for a blue one for a splash of color and a hint of personality. So now you are dressed for success yet expressing your individuality. It's the best of both worlds!

Wednesday: Office/Internship
It is important to dress semi-formal in a professional atmosphere but dressing comfortably is also crucial. Comfortable shoes are suggested since there may be lots of walking involved, especially in the glamorous lifestyle of running errands and fetching coffee.

Thursday: College Interview
Since college reps interview hundreds of applicants, standing out is key. In addition to an impressive resume and a killer GPA, an outfit that shows your personality while looking calm, collegiate, and collected is your golden ticket to the school of your dreams.

Friday: Awards Ceremony/ Presentation
For award ceremonies or presentations, it is important to look school-appropriate while a little more dressed up. Adding a black, chiffon skirt gives every outfit the right amount of class.  Now go recieve your award or rock that presentation in style!

Saturday: First Date
Finally scored a date with the guy you have chemistry with? (Sorry, bad pun.) A flattering dress is just the right confidence boost while a statement necklace and a pair of heels add the perfect "wow" factor. Goodbye butterflies, hello second date?

Sunday: Brunch
What an exhausting week! Now  it's time to relax, catch up, and enjoy some tea and parfait with friends and family. A patterned sundress and sunhat are the perfect compliments to your Sunday.

Above all, the most important tip is to have fun with fashion. Experiment and be creative with your own closet basics and express your own personal style!
